As the Economy Picks-Up, Employees Get Ichy
The nineties, and subsequent recession, have taught an important lesson. Individuals need to continually plan and develop their careers and organizations need to provide the support and context for that process. As the recession wanes, we can expect that employees will be increasingly concerned about careers and anxious to engage in development planning. In fact, in a survey released October 3, 2003 by CareerBuilder, it was reported that 28% of the workforce plan to look for new jobs in the next year and 60% in the next 24 months. This will provide a unique opportunity for organizations to focus development on meeting business challenges and as a tool to retain employees. |
